I have a table tennis question relating to the European Championships.
Can you tell me who was the last English lady to win the title of European table tennis champion?

The last English lady to win the European table tennis championship title was Jill Hammersley (now Mrs Jill Hammersley-Parker).
Jill won in 1976 when the tournament was held in Prague (Czechoslovakia).

Round 1 - Alica Grofova (Czechoslovakia) 14-21, 21-17, 21-16, 21-19
Round 2 - Agnes Simon (Fed.Rep.Germany) 21-19, 21-8, 21-14
Round 3 - Dubrakva Fabri (Yugoslavia) 21-16, 21-10, 21-17
Quarter-Final - Zoya Rudnova (USSR) 26-24, 24-26, 21-11, 10-21, 21-18
Semi-Final - Ann-Christin Hellman (Sweden) 21-11, 12-21, 21-16, 21-11
Final - Maria Alexandru (Romania) 23-21, 21-16, 17-21, 21-19
Jill was also runner-up in the next European Championship in 1978, and runner-up again in 1982.
Lisa Lomas was the last English lady to reach the final (1992), losing to Bettine Vriesekoop of the Netherlands.
