Table tennis questions


I have a question about volleying the ball when playing table tennis.

Can a player return the ball before it bounces on their court?

What do the rules say?

Thanks for your question Carol.

No, you cannot return the ball before it bounces.

That would be a volley which is not allowed in table tennis.

This is covered by the "obstruction" rule.
